Inside FUNTI: How 2,500 Electric Motorcycles a Month Get Built

FUNTI Intelligent Factory · Taizhou Bay, Zhejiang

Every unit that leaves this building carries a production record back to its frame number — and a buyer who can audit it.

113,303 m² of production floor, six gated stages, and one traceable file per unit. We build for OEM and ODM partners across Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe, in SKD or CBU.

01 — Production flow

Six stages, from steel coil to container

Every unit follows the same route and passes the same gates, whether the order is twenty units or two hundred. Nothing is scheduled backwards from a promised date; the date is set from the line.

01
Stamping & welding
Frame tubes cut and formed, then welded on jigs so geometry stays inside tolerance from the first unit to the last.
02
Painting
Pre-treatment, e-coat, top coat, bake. Film thickness and adhesion are checked on every batch, not on samples.
03
Sub-assembly
Harness, controller, motor and battery pack are built up separately, then married to the frame at the main line.
04
Assembly
Trim, wheels, brakes and body panels fitted with torque-controlled tools at each station.
05
Testing
Braking, lighting, waterproofing and a road test on every unit before it is allowed to be packed.
06
Packing & loading
Steel frame, foam at contact points, sealed and labelled, then loaded by container plan.
Automated guided vehicles carrying frames through the assembly floor
From our factory presentation: AGV units move frames and components between stations, on a fixed or a flexible beat.

02 — Line capability

What the line records, and what it refuses

Equipment is only worth describing when it changes what a buyer receives. These three do: they turn a claim into a record you can audit.

Torque, recorded at the station
Critical fasteners are driven with electric nutrunners that log the value against the frame number. An under-torqued bolt is flagged at the station, not found by the customer six months later.
AGV delivery to takt
Parts arrive at the station on a schedule instead of being fetched. Operators assemble; they do not walk, wait, or chase a forklift.
MES record per frame
Every frame number is linked to build time, station, material batch and torque values. When a question comes in about a unit, the answer comes from a record, not from memory.
Anti-static flooring across the electronics area  ·  Barcode scan on every core component  ·  In-line inspection with andon stop authority
Assembly line with electric nutrunners, barcode scanning and MES terminals
From our factory presentation: nutrunners with torque logging, barcode on every core part, MES at the station.

03 — Quality control

Three gates, four test regimes

A unit leaves the line only after all three gates pass. Test records travel with the shipment, not after it.

Gate 1
Incoming
▪Battery pack incoming inspection
▪Motor and controller sampling
▪Frame tube and weld check
▪Supplier batch held back on failure
Gate 2
In-process
▪Torque record at every station
▪Electrical continuity test
▪Paint thickness and adhesion
▪Line stop on defect
Gate 3
Final
▪Brake and lighting function
▪Waterproof sealing check
▪Road test on every unit
▪Packing and label audit

Test regimes

ECE R78
Braking system type approval for the European market.
UN 38.3
Lithium battery transport testing, section by section.
ISTA 3A
Packaging performance for parcel and LTL distribution.
IP67
Battery and connector sealing against dust and immersion.

Certificates and test reports are available on request for any model in the range.

Performance test bench and the 1,200 lux appearance inspection area
From our factory presentation: performance test bench and the appearance inspection area, lit to 1,200 lux so surface defects show up before packing.

04 — Packaging & delivery

How it arrives matters as much as how it is built

A container is the last station on the line. Units are braced so they cannot move, and packed so they can be assembled on arrival without a workshop full of missing parts.

Steel frame plus four-point strapping
The unit cannot shift inside the container, whatever the route and however many times it is transhipped.
Foam at every contact point
Handlebar, mirror mount, seat edge and front fender are separated from metal by closed-cell foam.
SKD or CBU, your choice
Knocked-down parts for local assembly, or ride-ready complete units — same line, different final stage.
Spare parts and documents with the order
Technical documents, tooling and a spare parts kit ship with the batch instead of after it.
Loading plan
Container plan issued before production
We confirm the packing method, container type and loading sequence with you before the first unit is built, so the volume you plan for is the volume we ship.

05 — People

Two Honda veterans set the standard. Our team runs it.

Production management is advised by two former Honda executives with a combined 75 years of manufacturing experience — one on factory operation, quality and cost, the other on overseas plant layout and logistics. Their contribution is discipline: standard work, visual control, and the authority to stop the line.

Tsuchiya Hiroshi
General Manager — 40+ years at Honda, former General Manager of Wuyang-Honda Guangzhou.
Miyamoto Yasuhiro
Factory Director — 36+ years at Honda, 25 years building overseas production plants.
Your contact

Enquiries are answered by a named account manager — Jack, Joey, Jannie, Umar or Saila — who follows the order from quotation to loading. You are not routed into a queue.

06 — Energy

Part of the plant runs on its own roof

Solar arrays on the production buildings offset part of the plant's electricity demand. The stated goal is carbon-neutral operation on renewable energy — a direction, not a finished claim.
